Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Agbonlahor display v Tottenham

By Will Butcher

Aston Villa fans were unsatisfied on Twitter with Gabby Agbonlahor’s performance against Tottenham in the third round of the FA Cup.

Agbonlahor, who was ostracised earlier in the season by former manager Roberto Di Matteo, failed to provide the spark as Tottenham secured a comfortable 2-0 win.

With Jonathan Kodjia and Jordan Ayew taking part in the African Cup of Nations, England international Agbonlahor will be looking to impress with a likely run in the first team on the horizon.

However, the 30-year-old striker failed to catch the eye as Tottenham’s three-man defence of Kevin Wimmer, Toby Alderweireld and Cameron Carter-Vickers marshalled him with ease.

Aston Villa fans reacted on Twitter to the performance in hilarious fashion, as they mocked their versatile forward’s performance against Mauricio Pochettino’s title-chasing side.

After making his debut in Villa’s side in march 2006 against Everton, the striker has gone on to make 381 league and cup appearances in claret and blue.

Having a hand in 139 goals during that time, Agbonlahor scored 84 of those himself before turning provider on another 55 occasions but is yet to score this season in his nine league and cup appearances.
