Aston Villa fans pan McCormack on Twitter after display v Wolves
By Will Butcher
Aston Villa fans have lambasted striker Ross McCormack on Twitter after an error-strewn display during the 1-0 loss to rivals Wolves.
The 30-year-old missed Villa’s best chance of the match, after cushioning a header over the bar from close range when it appeared easier to find the back of the net.
McCormack, who cost £12million from Championship outfit Fulham in the summer, has struggled to replicate the form in claret and blue that earned him a move to Villa Park in the first place.
Villa’s number 44 was overwhelmed by the strong partnership at centre-back for Wolves in Richard Stearman and captain Danny Batth, who kept their third clean sheet in five league games.
Aston Villa fans were disgusted on Twitter with the former Leeds and Rangers striker’s display, with many calling for him to be sold this month.

Scoring 119 goals in 352 Championship appearances, as well as 57 assists, McCormack was bought by Roberto Di Matteo earlier in the season to fire Villa back to the Premier League.
However, McCormack has managed just three goals in 22 league and cup appearances for the Midlands giants, with Jordan Ayew and Jonathan Kodjia likely to displace him when they return from the African Cup of Nations.
