Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Redknapp appointment
By Matt Farr
Harry Redknapp has been appointed as the new manager of Birmingham – and Aston Villa fans have called on him to pick up where his predecessor left off.
Redknapp, 70, has not managed at club level since his departure from QPR in February 2015, but replaces Gianfranco Zola in the St. Andrews hotseat.
His most recent managerial role was during a brief stint with the Jordan national team last year.
The appointment was confirmed by the club’s official Twitter account on Tuesday morning.

The former Tottenham boss is the third different manager at the struggling Championship club this season, following in the footsteps of Zola and his predecessor, Gary Rowett.

Zola resigned from his post as manager on Monday following the 2-0 defeat to Burton Albion, which left the club just three points clear of the relegation zone.
He had won just two of his 22 league games in charge, but Birmingham have now called upon the experienced Redknapp to stop the rot and save them from crashing down into League One.
But Redknapp’s first game in charge of the club will be against Midlands rivals Aston Villa at Villa Park, and fans have delivered their verdicts on the appointment ahead of the heavyweight clash.

Nottingham Forest, Blackburn, Wigan and Rotherham currently sit below Birmingham in the Championship table with three games to go.
There are just two places remaining in the relegation race, with Rotherham having already confirmed their fate.
Birmingham follow up their trip to Aston Villa with a tricky tie against promotion-chasing Huddersfield, as well as a trip to Bristol City.
