Aston Villa fans slate 27-year-old after win against Bristol City

By Amir Mir

Jonathan Kodjia scored and missed a penalty after Aston Villa recorded a 2-0 win over Bristol City – and fans on Twitter want him off penalty duties.

The 27-year-old missed the spot kick against his former side in the first half after his shot thundered off the crossbar – his second penalty miss of the season.

Despite redeeming himself after the break with a brilliant header, fans slated the striker and believe he acts too arrogant when taking penalty kicks.

One fan stated that he is a waste of time, while others were annoyed that there is not enough competition on the bench.

Kodjia is the only fit and available senior striker at the club with Scott Hogan and Gabby Agbonlahor out injured.

Nonetheless, supporters will be hoping Kodjia can improve his all round play and add to his 12 goal tally of the season.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Steve Bruce’s side recorded back-to-back wins after they also beat promotion chasers Derby County on Saturday afternoon.

This after, they had picked up only one win in 2017 prior to those victories and lost five games on the bounce.

Now, they will be looking to add to their recent success when they travel to rock-bottom Rotherham on Saturday afternoon.

Villa have won only two games on the road during this campaign, first at Reading in October and then at QPR in December.
