Aston Villa have ‘concrete’ interest in signing Oscar Gloukh – Sources

Aston Villa have a “concrete” interest in landing Red Bull Salzburg star Oscar Gloukh ahead of the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

The Midlands giants are among the sides closely monitoring the 19-year-old following his impressive recent form.

It is believed Villa are very keen on a potential swoop for the attacking midfielder later this year after extensive scouting.

Football Insider revealed in December that Gloukh is on the radar at Aston Villa – with Unai Emery’s recruitment staff seeing him as a player with “top potential”.

The teenager is regarded as a top young player and is one of the highest-rated talents in Europe.

Aston Villa plot swoop for Gloukh after he starred in the Champions League

Gloukh only signed for Salzburg last year (2023) and is already a top performer in the Austrian Bundesliga.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions this term, notching six goals and seven assists.

The midfield sensation starred in the Champions League, recording two goals and one assist in six group games as Salzburg were eliminated in December.

Gloukh, who primarily plays as an attacking midfielder but can also feature on the left, is under contract in Austria until June 2027.

He starred for Israel’s Under-21 side at the European Championships last year (2023) and has now hit three goals in 12 games for his country’s senior side.

The 19-year-old could help his nation qualify for the senior European Championships when they take part in the playoffs in March.

Aston Villa moved to sign ex-Man City attacker Morgan Rogers in January but remain keen on a potential move for Gloukh.
