
Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz reaches ‘agreement in principle’ – sources
Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz has reached an agreement in principle with Juventus over a summer transfer, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on 7 June Villa must raise £60million in player sales after their profitability and sustainability rules (PSR) proposal was rejected by their fellow Premier League clubs.
Sources say the Midlands giants are in advanced talks with Juventus over Luiz, 26, with a swap deal that could see a Weston McKennie, 25, and Samuel Iling-Junior, 20, head to Villa Park as well as a cash sum of around £20million.
The Brazil international is under contract with Villa until 2026.

Luiz has attracted significant interest over the past few months following his outstanding season at Villa Park.
The Brazilian registered 10 goals and 10 assists in 53 appearances across the campaign as he helped Villa secure a fourth-place finish in the Premier League.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider Unai Emery’s side have been forced by points deduction fears to consider offers for Luiz.
Villa are close to the PSR limit after announcing losses of £119million in their latest 2022-23 accounts.
