Aston Villa star Lamare Bogarde expected to join top Dutch club – sources
Aston Villa are planning to loan out Lamare Bogarde next season, sources have told Football Insider.
There is strong interest from top-division Dutch clubs in the Holland Under-20 international, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Bristol Rovers.
The 20-year-old, who progressed through the Feyenoord youth ranks before his move to Villa, can play in midfield and defence.
Talks will be held at the end of the season over Bogarde’s future, although there is already the indication from the club that the next stage in his development will include a loan at a Dutch Eredivisie club.
Bogarde made 36 appearances for Bristol Rovers before being recalled in January, having also spent the second half of last season on loan at the League One club.
Aston Villa plan for youngster revealed
He has one senior Aston Villa appearance to his name, having been with the Midlands club since he was 16.
Bogarde penned a long-term new deal at Villa Park in July 2022, joining fellow academy products Jacob Ramsey and Tim Iroegbunam in signing a new contract.
But Villa will now look to send the youngster out on another loan in order to allow him to develop his career elsewhere.
The midfielder already has a Villa trophy to his name, having been part of the side that won the 2020/21 FA Youth Cup.
Sources told Football Insider in January that Championship trio Southampton, Watford and Cardiff City were all keen on signing the youngster on loan for the remainder of the season following his recall from Bristol Rovers, along with Scottish outfit Aberdeen.

But the player has remained at Villa Park, largely lining out for the club’s Under-21 side.
