Aston Villa told to sanction Carney Chukwuemeka deal amid source’s £5.2m reveal – pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Aston Villa should cut Carney Chukwuemeka loose this summer after news of his “ridiculous” wage demands.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 18-year-old may have been led astray by his agents and representatives.
This site revealed last week (18 July) that Chukwuemeka wants a wage of £100,000-a-week if he is to renew his contract at Villa Park – an outlay of £5.2million per year.

The talented midfielder was left out of the squad for Villa’s pre-season tour after snubbing a new deal – with his current terms set to expire in less than 12 months’ time.
According to talkSPORT (22 July), Chukwuemeka is a target for Man City and Newcastle – but both cash-rich outfits have been put off by his £20million price tag.
He could quit for a move abroad in January for a development fee of just £300,000.
Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “It’s a shame because football should come first at his age.
“Unfortunately, he’s prioritising the money and the pound signs, despite being someone who hasn’t really forged a career yet.
“But a lot of players seem to think they’re owed this sort of money without playing regularly enough. For me, you’ve got to be in the side for a good four or five seasons to earn that kind of wage.
“This kid obviously thinks he’s better than he is right now. He thinks he’s the finished article.
“Why should he be getting more money than some of the other players, who may have been doing it for eight or nine years in the top flight. It’s ridiculous.

“It comes from the agents, and sometimes you just have to cut someone loose.
“The pressure will be on the player to show that Villa have made the wrong decision if they do decide to sell him on.”
In other news, pundit claims Tyrone Mings is now fighting for his Aston Villa place amid “1000%” claim.
