Kieran Maguire tells Aston Villa to sign Rashica as 'fire sale' asking price revealed

Aston Villa must be ruthless in their approach to the transfer market amid financial turmoil in the European game.

That is according to finance expert and Football Insider columnist Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively after German outlet Kicker reported that Werder Bremen’s Milot Rashica is available for £14million this summer.

His buyout clause is understood to have fallen from £20million following Werder’s relegation from the Bundesliga.

Football Insider revealed in April that Villa are plotting a second swoop for the wide forward after they failed to reach an agreement with the German club last summer.

And Maguire claims that a move for the 24-year-old is a “no brainer” and that Villa must strike as soon as they spy this kind of opportunity.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “They need to take advantage of situations like these. It is to a large extent a no-brainer.

“If he’s as good as everyone says he is, you’re looking at acquiring a very talented footballer at a fire-sale price. It’s a very logical step for Aston Villa to take.

“When we look at the crisis in the European market as well, you have to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak. I suspect a lot of clubs will be doing the same this summer.”

Rashica scored three goals and laid on another five assists in the Bundesliga in 2020-21.

He is a 13-cap Kosovo international and has been with the club since signing from Vitesse in 2018.
