‘Aston Villa will accept Jacob Ramsey offer’ – Liverpool deal sets ball rolling
Aston Villa are likely to accept an offer for star midfielder Jacob Ramsey and are taking Liverpool’s latest deal as their price point.
Last week (20 July), Football Insider revealed that Forest are leading the race to sign Ramsey, despite growing interest from a number of other clubs.
The 24-year-old impressed last season for Villa, starting 19 Premier League games as well as picking up five assists.
Along with Forest, Everton and Tottenham have emerged as potential destinations for the Englishman, who could be set to leave Unai Emery’s side this summer.
Aston Villa’s former chief Keith Wyness– who served as CEO at Villa Park between 2016 and 2018 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Ramsey could well be on his way, if the interested clubs meet the price tag set.

‘Villa hoping for Ramsey auction to raise money’
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted that Villa would be willing to accept a bid of around £70million for Ramsey, and that they are using Hugo Ekitike’s price as a benchmark.
Ekitike has completed his move to Liverpool, after Arne Slot’s side had a £69m offer accepted by Frankfurt, with the fee potentially rising to £79m with add-ons.
Wyness added that Villa are hoping there is an auction for Ramsey, in order to raise his price.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “He’s one that I think there is going to be a bit of an auction for.
“I’d have thought he would cost £60m and it may go up to £70m as well. They’re all looking at the Ekitike deal for comparison, although he is a different quality and a striker, I get all that.
“Ramsey is a quality player and it’s proven by the fact that he had a very good season. There will be competition for him and an auction, and I think that’s what Villa have been hoping for.
“They’re going to need that money coming in as well. Villa are looking for other ways to try and raise money just now but with Ramsey I think there could well be something.”

‘Aston Villa to avoid financial breach’
Meanwhile, Aston Villa could reportedly lose up to £150million and still avoid a further financial breach after their Uefa sanctions have been revealed.
Uefa confirmed earlier this month Villa have been fined £9.5million, with the potential of a further £12.9million penalty if they fail to comply in a three-year period.
Finance expert Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Villa might only pay £5million following their financial breach.
