Aston Villa would be making a catastrophic error in signing this £16m ace

Aston Villa have been installed as one of the favourites to sign Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic this summer.
Leading bookmaker Bet Victor have placed odds of 12/1 on Villa signing the 22-year-old striker, who cost £16million but has scored just four Championship goals this season.
Steve Bruce should stay well away from the Serbian international because he is the type of player that Villa don’t need for their promotion push next season.
Mitrovic may be highly-rated, but in truth, he has not been able to show consistency with on-field antics playing its part.
If he were to make a move from St James’ Park to Villa Park in the summer then it would be a catastrophic error and signing by the club.

Villa have already spent over £40million on forwards since their relegation from the Premier League last term and only one of those signings has come off so far.
Furthermore, Mitrovic has proven in the second division that he is unable to provide the threat and goalscoring form that the current Championship leaders Newcastle would have wanted.
Rafa Benitez’ side have been a free-scoring second division team over the course of the campaign but Mitrovic seems to be the only one who has not caught that bug.
Adding Mitrovic to Villa’s ranks would just result in Steve Bruce trying to nurture a player that he cannot afford to baby sit and protect next season.
Bruce’s minimum task will be to secure a top-six place, the last thing he will need is a player who has almost acquired more yellow cards than goals in the league during this campaign.
In other Aston Villa news, the club is looking to make a move for this Championship goal machine.
