Aston Villa’s Jacob Ramsey reacts to Ross Barkley message as Tottenham move looms
Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey has responded to team mate Ross Barkley as a move to Premier League rivals Tottenham gets closer.
In a Football Insider exclusive, it was revealed Spurs were eyeing a move for the midfielder before they were told they could agree a cut-price deal.
Ramsey came through the youth ranks at Villa and has gone on to make 137 appearances for the club.
The 24-year-old though has not been a regular starter under Unai Emery with competition from the likes of John McGinn, Amadou Onana, Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans keeping him out of the team.

Ramsey likes ‘good to be back’ post
Villa team mate Barkley took to Instagram (7 July) to post pictures of him returning to pre-season training.
Ramsey liked the post which was captioned: “Good to be back,” with a purple love heart emoji.
The 31-year-old joined Villa permanently last summer from Luton Town following a previous loan spell at the club whilst at Chelsea.
Barkley made 30 appearances for the club scoring four goals and contributing four assists.
Spurs move to reignite Ramsey career
Football Insider verdict
Ramsey is said to be ‘unhappy’ at Villa so a move away from the club looks likely this summer.
Villa would also be comfortable selling a player that doesn’t want to be at the club as they need to adhere to PSR rules and selling a homegrown player would count as pure profit.
Ramsey only has two deals left on his current contract so a fee shouldn’t be out of reach for potential suitors like Spurs.

Manager Thomas Frank is a fan of the midfielder and the Dane is looking to shape his Spurs squad ahead of his first season in charge.
His potential would be sure to excite fans and alongside either Yves Bissouma or Rodrigo Bentancur he could be given the licence to contribute going forward as a number eight.
With James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski able to play in the number 10 role, chances could be limited for Ramsey if he wants to make that his specialised position.
The prospect of Champions League football should also appeal to Ramsey should he make the switch to North London, something Villa cannot offer after their controversial defeat at Manchester United on the final day of last season.
