Attacking duo axed in Pochettino 4-2-3-1: Best possible Tottenham XI to face Hull
COMMENT By Harvey Byrne
Tottenham will face Hull on Wednesday evening at White Hart Lane and it is now the perfect opportunity to bring Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and Moussa Sissoko into the line-up.
The attackers were brought to the club for a combined £41million fee in the summer, but neither have enjoyed a run in the team.
The reasoning could be due to fear from Mauricio Pochettino that the duo aren’t as good as Son Heung-min or Dele Alli, who are both now tried and tested.
However, the South Korea international was an outcast himself before hitting a run of form in front of goal earlier in the campaign.
Pochettino could spark a similar return in N’Koudou and Sissoko who will both also be keen to prove themselves.
Additionally, if they can’t perform against a 19th placed Hull side then they are simply not good for Spurs.
The Argentine boss should axe attacking duo Alli and Son from the line-up with neither performing up to the standards required in recent fixtures.
Midfielders Harry Winks and Eric Dier should also come back into the side in the rotation system.
The north London outfit are set to play in three matches in seven days from Sunday’s result against Manchester United to next Sunday’s match against Burnley.
Therefore, the rotation policy will need to be put into place by Pochettinio, giving Dier and Winks the opportunity to show their qualities in the midfield.
However, the back five for Spurs is too vital to change and even if it is against a weak side they can not take any chances.
Hugo Lloris, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose should all be able to ensure a clean sheet against Hull, leaving the forwards to do their jobs upfront.
Christian Eriksen should join Sissoko and N’Koudou in the attacking three and they must supply Harry Kane with the right support if Spurs are to avoid a shock result.
Tottenham have won two of their last three matches in all competitions, including a heavy 5-0 victory over relegation battling Swansea.
Meanwhile, Hull have failed to win any of their last five fixtures in normal time in all competitions, bringing two losses and three draws.
