Attacking duo axed in five Heckingbottom changes: Leeds best possible XI v Derby
Leeds United manager Paul Heckingbottom must make five changes to his starting line-up if he wants to field his best possible team against Derby County at Pride Park on Wednesday night.
Samuel Saiz, Liam Cooper and Gaetano Berardi are all back from suspension and must return to the starting line-up along with Ronaldo Vieira and Ezgjan Alioski.
Attacking duo Stuart Dallas and Caleb Ekuban and must be axed after poor performances against Bristol City on Sunday while Matthew Pennington, Vurnon Anita and Eunan O’Kane should also be dropped to make room for those returning from bans.
Felix Wiedwald should keep his place in goal despite a shaky performance against the Robins so Heckingbottom can field was is undoubtedly strongest backline.
Berardi, Cooper, Pontus Jansson and Laurens De Bock should all start in the defence as Leeds aim to earn their first win since Boxing Day.
Adam Forshaw must line up alongside Vieira in the centre of midfield with Saiz ahead of them in the No 10 role.
Pablo Hernandez and Alioski have to start on the wings for Heckingbottom to play his best possible team with the in-form Pierre-Michel Lasogga retaining his place at centre-forward.
Leeds lost 2-1 at home against Derby earlier this season and will no doubt be hoping for a performance like that at Pride Park in 2015 on Wednesday night when Chris Wood scored a last minute winner against the East Midlands side.
In other Leeds United news, fans have raged at Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta after a development in the hunt to sign this centre-forward.
