'Awful', 'Having a mare' - Tottenham fans fume at 21y/o for first-half display v Man City
Tottenham were brought down to earth with a bump in the first half at Wembley on Saturday.
Man City dominated the play and took a deserved 2-1 lead into the break, after goals from Gabriel de Jesus and a penalty from Ilkay Gundogan, before Christian Eriksen got a goal back.
Tottenham were poor across the pitch, with David Silva and Kevin de Bruyne running the show, but the fans saved most of their criticism for the backline, and Davinson Sanchez in particular.
Sanchez was to blame for the first goal, a simple long ball straight through the middle that he failed to deal with.
And it casts a light on Mauricio Pochettino’s decision to drop Toby Alderweireld from the squad.
Tottenham still have 45 minutes left to save the game but it’s a long way back against a Man City side on form and desperate to clinch the Premier League title.

Ridiculous. Everyone keeps talking about how good Davinson Sanchez is, but it always seems like he's at fault when a goal is conceded.

Dembele Sanchez and Lloris having a mare…. I’m actually surprised because I expect that from Trippier and Davies

Let’s not forget: this club would rather run out Sanchez every week than pay one of the best Premier League CB’s what he’s worth. #COYS
