Balague: This is what Gareth Bale thinks about a sensational return to Tottenham

By Richard Parks
Gareth Bale is unlikely to be tempted by the possibility of a sensational return to Tottenham, according to Guillem Balague.
The Sky Sports Spanish pundit and transfer expert dismissed the likelihood of the Real Madrid superstar having a second spell at White Hart Lane.
In a question-and-answer session on the Sky Sports website (12.56pm), Balague believes even the combination of the exciting Spurs side transformed by Mauricio Pochettino and the spanking new stadium the club are scheduled to move into in August will not be enough to persuade Bale to return to north London.
“I feel Bale considers his time at Spurs as something that is better not to go back to,” said Balague. “Imagine if you were Bale, at the biggest club in the world, winning leagues and club World Cups and Champions League. Imagine Spurs, despite the exciting future that lies ahead, approached you… what would you do?”
Football Insider verdict:
Mauricio Pochettino is on the record as being a firm admirer of Bale, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players to represent Tottenham. Sure, he has suffered injury problems in the last two seasons, but his record at Real makes it clear that he is the real deal. At the Bernabeu, the Welshman has won the Champions League three times and the Spanish title, scoring 76 goals and supplying 57 assists in 171 matches. He would provide the final piece of the jigsaw in Pochettino’s young and vibrant team which has made Europe sit up and take notice with its stunning transformation. The price would have to be right, and it would surely cost a £70million-plus fee for a bona fide superstar, even one who has suffered with a lot of injuries in recent times. Bale’s next move is almost certain to be back to the Premier League and he will be not short of offers. Spurs cannot match the financial resources of the Manchester clubs and Chelsea, but they can provide a grand stage, romance and a team on the up. Don’t rule it out, but it is unlikely.
