Baris Alper Yilmaz to Everton: O’Rourke shares update today

Everton are unlikely to land a deal for Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz in January, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the Toffees will be rivalled in their efforts to sign him by Newcastle, Aston Villa and West Ham.

Meanwhile, the price tag involved in his potential transfer are expected to be prohibitive for Everton in the mid-season transfer window.

Yilmaz, 24, impressed in his performances for Turkey at Euro 2024 in Germany and clubs across Europe have been tracking his performances ever since.

The winger has been an important player for the Turkish league leaders so far this season, making 22 appearances across all competitions and scoring seven goals.

That form has attracted interest from multiple Premier League sides who are weighing up offers to test Galatasaray’s resolve in January.

However, the Turkish giants are reluctant to let a key player leave mid-way though the season and are set to demand a high price for his departure.

Everton are planning to back Sean Dyche in January in an effort to turn around their disappointing start to the season amid pressure on the manager’s job.

The Friedkin Group are expected to complete their takeover before the turn of the year and are prepared to spend in January in an effort to secure their Premier League place.

The Toffees have struggled in front of goal so far this season, and have begun assessing potential options ahead of the transfer window both up front and on the wing.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown previously told Football Insider that a striker is at the top of their list of targets ahead of January and the recruitment team have begun working on deals.
