‘Bayern chief holds Jamie Gittens talks after third £47m Chelsea bid rejected’
Bayern Munich have met with Jamie Gittens’ representatives after Chelsea saw three bids for the Borussia Dortmund winger turned down.
Chelsea are looking to be active in the transfer market ahead of their return to the Champions League, with Liam Delap, Dario Essugo and Geovany Quenda all already signed for sizeable fees this summer.
Enzo Maresca is still looking to bolster his attacking depth, with Dortmund wide man Gittens linked to the Blues after a fruitful season with the Bundesliga giants.
The England youth international was once on Chelsea’s books as a youngster, but a return to Stamford Bridge as a professional has now been thrown into doubt following fresh reports of interest in his signature.

Bayern Munich chief Eberl meets with Gittens‘ agent despite Chelsea agreement
Former scout Mick Brown first told Football Insider in January that Chelsea were keen on a move for Gittens, and they have moved ahead with concrete bids for his services this summer, with the second worth around £42million, but both have been rejected by Dortmund [BBC Sport].
His impressive form has not gone unnoticed across Europe, and German outlet Bild have now reported that Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has met with Gittens’ agent in the USA while the 20-year-old takes part in the Club World Cup, and he is on the Bundesliga champions’ list of targets.
They also claim that Gittens has already agreed personal terms with Chelsea, with a seven-year contract on €7m-per-season (£6m) accepted, but Dortmund have rejected yet another offer from the Blues of over €55m (£47.1m) for his services, with the German side demanding at least €65m (£55.6m) to prise him from their grasp.

Chelsea should stick with what they have over £50m+ Gittens
Football Insider verdict
Chelsea’s spending has reached astronomical heights in recent years, and their plight for success under the ownership of Todd Boehly has seen numerous players and managers come and go in the last few seasons.
They look to finally be going in the right direction as it stands under head-coach Maresca, and he has a lot of players at his disposal right now as he aims to find the best starting eleven and squad to set them up for continued success.
Gittens is a bright young player, but whether he would join Chelsea and become a leading figure in their quest to compete for top prizes is unclear, especially given that he has not always been a starter for Dortmund since his breakthrough in 2022.

Noni Madueke could leave Chelsea soon amid interest from Newcastle United, but selling him and replacing him with Gittens would surely feel like a futile move, given their similar ages, playstyles, and attacking output at their respective clubs.
As well as Madueke, Maresca has Cole Palmer, Pedro Neto and Estevao to call upon on either wing, and so spending over the odds to sign Gittens this summer is not something that the club should do due to numerous factors.
