BBC journalist: By 4.30pm today, everything about Leeds striker situation will be clear

By Harry Sykes

Chris Wood’s situation at Leeds United will be abundantly clear at 4.30pm today (Saturday) amid speculation he is joining Burnley, according to a reliable journalist.

BBC Radio Leeds correspondent Adam Pope reported on his personal Twitter account this morning that the teamsheet submitted by manager Thomas Christiansen for the evening Championship clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light will be telling.

The names in the starting XI “should tell us all we need to know one way or the other,” said Pope, as he suggested that if Wood does not start, it will be clear he is leaving Leeds.

Pope added a follow-up message on Twitter in which he gave an update on the potential transfer that is overshadowing Leeds’ fourth league match of the campaign.

The BBC journalist said the expectation from Burnley is that Wood will complete a transfer “within 48 hours”, although he insisted that is not corroborated by the Yorkshire giants.

Leeds fans are shattered at the possibility of losing Wood, despite reports the fee will be £15million plus add-ons.

The New Zealand international spearheaded the team’s promotion challenge last season with 27 league goals and 30 in all competitions.
