BBC journalist makes U-turn on reported multi-million bid for Rangers star Morelos

BBC Scotland’s Kheredine Idessane has had to issue an apology to Rangers after reporting “sources close to” Chinese Super League side Beijing Renhe had told him no bid had been made for Gers star Alfredo Morelos.
The BBC journalist was then forced to apologise and revealed details of the structure of a “multi-million Euro” bid for the Colombian striker.

Morelos is the top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership this season and according to Sky Sports rejected an £8million offer for the prolific hitman.
The 21-year-old has scored 13 times in 27 appearances for the Gers – with 11 of those coming in his 22 Scottish Premiership appearances – since his £1million move from HJK Helsinki in the summer.

So that clears that up then. There were bids but Rangers said no. With Beijing signing Augusto Fernandez from Atletico Madrid it puts to bed any further speculation of a move to Renhe for Morelos unless they can move one of their existing foreign players on elsewhere. It’s no surprise the Colombian hitman has been attracting bids after scoring 46 times in 62 games for HJK the coming to Scotland and continuing to score goals regularly. If Rangers can hold on to the striker for a little while longer they could land a proper windfall when they do finally decide to sell Morelos.
