BBC presenter trolls Newcastle fans on Twitter over striker move
BBC presenter Richard Osman has thanked Newcastle – and everyone in Serbia – for allowing their striker, Aleksandar Mitrovic, a loan move to Fulham in the January transfer window.
The Magpies forward got his name on the score-sheet once more for the Championship’s in-form side, netting twice as the Cottagers recorded a 3-0 victory against Sheffield United on Tuesday night.
And it would seem that the 23-year-old is a hit in West London, particularly with the quiz show co-host Osman, who wrote on his official Twitter account: “To everyone in Newcastle and everyone is Serbia, thank you so much for Aleksandar Mitrovic #ffc #COYW.”

It was the Serbian’s fifth goal in seven appearances since his transfer from Tyneside, having struggled for game time under Rafa Benitez’ following his move from Anderlecht.
Football Insider verdict:
Rafa must be questioning why he let Mitrovic leave and regretting the lack of opportunities he gave to the attacker at St James’ Park – it is starting to look like a very bad decision now. The Championship is a tough league – no matter what Magpies fans think – and to score as many as he has done shows how poorly he has been handled by the club. Newcastle fans seem blind to the Spanish boss’ inadequacies because the Serb is clearly a better option than Dwight Gayle up front, who despite being first choice in attack, has only managed to register five times this season.
