BBC pundit gobsmacked by one thing Tottenham ace did v Huddersfield, said it will worry teammate

Garth Crooks has said that Ben Davies put in an “outstanding” display against Huddersfield and included the Tottenham left-back in his Premier League Team of the Week.

Writing in his weekly column for the BBC, Crooks highlighted one sliding tackle that Davies executed to perfection – a skill he thought had died out in the Premier League.

“What a slide tackle by Ben Davies. Just when I thought the skill had well and truly deserted the game, Davies demonstrates that the noble art is alive and kicking and just how a great tackle should be executed.

“The full-back’s challenge on Huddersfield’s Danny Williams was absolutely brilliant and his all-round performance was outstanding.

“If I were fellow Spurs full-back Danny Rose I’d be somewhat concerned.”

We agree with Crooks on everything except for one thing. It’s doubtful that Danny Rose is going to feel too concerned by Davies’ performance. The former number one left-back will already have come to terms with the fact that Davies is now Poch’s number one and that he’s the back-up option. Davies has had a brilliant season and Rose looks like he’s on his way out at the end of the season. Davies matches Rose in every department and has chipped in with some crucial attacking points too. We expect Davies to start against Juventus and leave Rose an interested bystander once again on Wednesday.
