Darren Bent has drooled over Jack Clarke and insisted he is a player “you’ve got to keep your eye out for” at Leeds United next season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former England striker and our newly-signed pundit insisted the 18-year-old winger is a “great signing” for Tottenham after they recruited him earlier this week.

But Leeds will be able to call upon Clarke for the entirety of next season after they negotiated a loan-back for 2018/19 as part of his transfer to the Premier League big hitters.

Recently-retired striker Bent knows the Championship well after his lengthy spell at Derby County at the end of his stellar career and has kept a close eye on the Elland Road academy product.

“Jack Clarke, he really impressed me for Leeds, he was brilliant,” Bent told Football Insider. “I thought it was only a matter of time before somebody came and got him.

“Listen, great signing for Spurs and in a couple of years’ time he’ll be a top, top player. Brilliant for himself, Jack Clarke, too, because he’s progressed really well, brilliant for Leeds last season and he fully deserves this move. He’s one you’ve got to keep your eye out for.”

Clarke secured a transfer to Tottenham just nine months after breaking into the Leeds first team last October, where he made an immediate impact with some sparkling displays.

He will get a chance to add to the 25 matches, only five of which were starts, he made for United last season as he prepares for another campaign under Marcelo Bielsa.

In other Leeds United news, Noel Whelan has expressed his excitement to Football Insider as the club agree terms with an “excellent number 10”.
