Dimitar Berbatov is convinced that Harry Kane is at the right club to become one of the best strikers in the world.
The Tottenham 23-year-old has made huge strides since establishing himself in the first team in the 2014-15 season.
He scored 31 goals for Spurs two seasons ago and followed that up by topping the Premier League scoring charts in the last campaign with 25 goals.
Kane has continued to be a consistent scorer in his third season at his boyhood club, taking his haul for 2016-17 to 19 with a hat-trick on Sunday for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Former Tottenham striker Berbatov is in no doubt that the England international is at the right club, and playing for the right manager, to continue his development.
“I think Harry Kane is now Mr Spurs,” said Berbatov on Sunday ahead of Match of the Day’s live coverage of Tottenham’s 2-0 FA Cup win at Fulham. “He is the talisman. He is the guy up front in the triangle with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen and the way they link together is natural.
“He is becoming a top class goalscorer. For me, if he wants to become one of the very best he is in the right place. The coach is very good and he can develop.”
Kane brushed off concern about a knee injury to take his place in Spurs’ starting XI in theirFA Cup fifth round triumph over Fulham on Sunday.
The stand-in skipper scored his 17th goal of the season when he latched upon a Christian Eriksen cross early in the first half, and then added his 18th at the start of the second period.
Kane secured his hat-trick with a clinical third shortly before being substituted and saved for next Thursday’s Europa League second-leg against Gent.
