Veteran goalkeeper Dorus de Vries signed a new contract with Celtic last night.
The former Nottingham Forest goalkeeper extended his deal at Celtic Park until summer 2019.
The news was greeted warmly by Hoops supporters on Twitter, with one saying he was the “best goalkeeper at the club”.
Here is a selection of the best tweets from Celtic fans after the news was announced:
Not sure why people don’t agree , I was down at Sunderland and he made a couple of great saves , he’s got a lot more to show if given the chance. Dundee was a little example of what he can do too.

Thats how much BR values him. His contract was up at the end of the season, & BR refused offers for him this past summer also.

Reckon he’s due a run in the team, was outstanding against Dundee in last game he played, extension makes sense then it’s up to Conor Hazard to push both of them 🍀🍀

De Vries signed for Celtic last season to provide competition for current Bhoys number 1 Craig Gordon.
Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers knew the player well, as the two had previously worked together at Swansea City.
The Dutch goalkeeper quickly became first choice, making his Celtic debut in a 4-1 win over Aberdeen.
He also started in the 5-1 win over Rangers at Celtic Park in September 2015.
However, he turned in a poor performance against Barcelona as Celtic lost 7-0 in the Champions League group stages.
He was then substituted during a league game against Kilmarnock and didn’t make another appearance for the entirety of the season.
De Vries made his return to the Celtic team this October, turning in a man of the match performance against Dundee.
He pulled off a series of saves in the second-half which helped Celtic to all three points in a 1-0.
Celtic begin a busy schedule tomorrow with a trip to Dingwall to play Ross County in the Saturday lunchtime kick-off.
