‘Best player on the pitch’ – TNT Sports commentator blown away by Nottingham Forest star vs Real Betis

TNT Sports’ Darren Fletcher was staggered by the performance of one Nottingham Forest player during their 2-2 draw with Real Betis.

Nottingham Forest’s 2-2 draw with Real Betis kicked off their first European campaign in 30 years in decent fashion.

Ange Postecoglou replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Nottingham Forest after the Portuguese head coach fell out with executive Edu Gaspar.

Nottingham Forest’s 3-2 loss to Swansea was a disastrous start to Postecoglou’s tenure at the City Ground.

Elliot Anderson blows Darren Fletcher away

Igor Jesus scored two goals on his second start for the club to give Forest a first-half advantage before Antony’s late equaliser for Betis.

Despite Jesus’ goalscoring feat, it was Elliot Anderson’s performance against Real Betis that caught the attention of pundits.

TNT Sports’ commentator, Darren Fletcher, said: “Elliot Anderson has looked like a Rolls-Royce out there, he’s been the best player on the pitch by some distance.”

Anderson caught the eye while on international duty and has looked imperious in Forest’s midfield so far this season.

Anderson was crucial to everything that England did well against Andorra and Serbia, and has staked a further claim for his place in Thomas Tuchel’s setup.

Tuchel will have the choice of Anderson, Adam Wharton and Jordan Henderson at the base of midfield in next summer’s World Cup.

Anderson has made the best claim so far out of all the options, with Wharton missing the most recent international break through injury.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder’s performances have been exceptional this season, and if he keeps performing like he did against Betis, Tuchel will be hard-pressed not to play Anderson at the World Cup.
