Betting latest: Everton installed clear favourites to sign 19-goal English forward
By Harvey Byrne
Everton have been installed as the clear favourites to sign Arsenal forward Theo Walcott this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet have priced the Toffees at 3/1 to sign the 28-year-old right-winger before the September deadline.
Fellow Premier League team West Ham are the only other side considered to be the running by the bookmakers, but they sit someway behind Ronald Koeman’s team at odds of 12/1.
The odds follow claims by the Mirror earlier in the month stating that the the Toffees were weighing up a £30million bid for the Arsenal man.
Manager Koeman has already added seven new players to his team this summer, but he could also be eyeing a big money move for Walcott with the only natural wide player to come in so far being Henry Onyekuru, who has been sent straight back out on loan to Anderlecht.
Walcott himself has been at Arsenal since 2006 after completing a move from Southampton in the January window for a deal worth an initial £5million.
He has since played 383 times for the Gunners in total, scoring 104 times and turning provider on 73 occasions.
Last season alone the impressive finisher bagged 19 goals in 37 matches in all competitions and the 47-time capped England international has just two years remaining on his contract at the club.
