Leeds are one of the front runners to sign Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa before the end of the transfer window, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
SkyBet have the Whites at 4/1 second favourites to sign Ulloa, 31, as the Championship side look to find a replacement for Chris Wood, who left for Burnley on Monday in a deal worth £15million.
Brighton (5/2) are leading the charge for the Leicester striker’s signature while Aston Villa (9/1) are also in strong contention.
The Yorkshire Post reported in January that Leeds had been keeping close tabs on Ulloa as Garry Monk looked to lift the goal-scoring burden off the now-departed Wood.
The Argentinean striker was part of the Leicester squad that won the 2015/16 Premier League title in miraculous circumstances, but his place in the first-team has since diminished with him starting just three league fixtures last term.
The powerful forward, who has similarities to Wood in his style of play, featured for the entirety of Leicester’s Carabao Cup win against Sheffield United on Tuesday, but it seems that he is not in Craig Shakespeare’s plans for the Premier League and he could be available on a cut-price deal.
Caleb Ekuban is currently Leeds’ only striking option at the moment following the departures of Wood, Marcus Antonsson and Souleymane Doukara this summer.
In other Leeds news, fans have reacted with disbelief to the Whites’ Carabao Cup draw.
