Newcastle United have been installed as firm favourites to sign Arsenal striker Lucas Perez, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.
Sky Bet has priced the likelihood of the 28-year-old moving to St. James’ Park at 9/4, while the odds on the Spaniard staying with the Gunners are a huge 6/1.
This suggests SkyBet think the chances of him moving on this summer are highly likely – the only question is where?
A number of European clubs are in the running to sign the Arsenal attacker too.
A move to Fenerbahce is closely priced behind a Toon transfer at 11/4, while Deportivo and Roma both sit at 7/2.
Sevilla, Bayer Leverkusen and Crystal Palace also have odds on signing the former Deportivo de La Coruna but they are priced significantly higher than Rafa Benitez’ squad.
The former La Liga striker moved to Arsenal last summer in a four-year-deal for £18million, but Perez failed to find a regular spot in Arsene Wenger’s senior squad.
Since joining in last season’s transfer window, Perez managed to score just one goal in his 11 Premier League appearances which saw him fall in Wenger’s pecking order behind Olivier Giroud and Danny Welbeck.
Perez will have fallen even further out of favour with the French manager after goal machine Alexandre Lacazette joined the club from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon.
Newcastle would undoubtably still value the Spaniard’s experience in both La Liga as well as his limited time in the Premier League as the club step back up to the top flight following promotion from the Championship last season.
In other Newcastle news, Benitez is set to omit this 2015/16 mainstay from his 25-man squad.
