Newcastle have been made emphatic favourites to sign Burnley striker Andre Gray, according to the latest bookmaker odds.
Ladbrokes have priced the Championship title holders at even-money to land the 25-year-old when he leaves Turf Moor, with him priced at 5/4 to join Newcastle in the upcoming summer transfer window.
On 19 May SkyBet had the Magpies as second favourites at 3/1 to sign Gray behind Everton, but the odds have now been slashed as a move to St. James’ Park begins to look more likely.
However, according to the latest odds from Ladbrokes, Everton have dropped well out of the race with Tottenham, West Ham and Stoke now in the running to snap up the Burnley man.
Gray has played a pivotal role in Burnley’s Premier League campaign, scoring nine goals in 32 appearances.
He bagged his first top-flight hat-trick in December when he made a mockery of Newcastle’s great rivals Sunderland as they were sent on their way to a bottom-placed finish.
Four of his ten goals in all competitions came against the Black Cats which would go down well with the Toon Army who are desperate for Rafa Benitez to make attacking reinforcements over the summer.
The ex-Real Madrid and Liverpool manager is expected to splash the cash when the transfer window opens having recently been offered the full financial support of owner Mike Ashley.
In other Newcastle news, the Magpies must sign this 88-cap international who has made himself available for free.
