Betting update: Liverpool tipped to sign 24-year-old La Liga shot-stopper

Liverpool are in the running to sign Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid this summer, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

The Reds are strongly in the running to land the 24-year-old shot-stopper, who has impressed in La Liga this season.

Bet Victor have placed odds of 12/1 on Liverpool signing Oblak, narrowly behind four other Premier League clubs.

Rivals Manchester United are the favourites to sign the Slovenian at this moment in time with odds of 3/1, while Chelsea are placed at 4/1 with Manchester City and Arsenal trailing at 5/1 and 8/1 respectively.

Now, Jurgen Klopp could be eyeing a new number one for Liverpool this summer after last season’s goalkeeper signing Loris Karius has so far struggled in Merseyside.

Belgian stopper Simon Mignolet has reclaimed the first choice spot between the sticks with some good displays, but it is still felt that he can be improved upon.

Oblak is certainly someone who can be viewed as an improvement on both after being names in the La Liga team of the season as recently as last season, while also being named in the 2015-16 Champions League team of the season.

He has continued with his impressive performances this campaign and in 24 La Liga mtches he has managed to keep a stunning 12 clean sheets, while conceding just 18.
