Beyond the clean sheet: The ‘stunning’ Senne Lammens metric that Man United fans are obsessed with

Manchester United’s decision to sign Senne Lammens was further vindicated during their 1-0 victory over Everton.

Substitute Benjamin Sesko was the matchwinner in the second half on Man United‘s first trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, where Lammens’ four saves helped them keep their fifth clean sheet of the season.

Michael Carrick remains undefeated as interim Man United manager, with victory at Everton his fifth in six Premier League games, and increases his chances of becoming the next permanent boss.

The three points cements Man United’s position in the top four further, with a three-point gap now between them and fifth-placed Chelsea.

Senne Lammens ‘will retire a legend of Man United’

Lammens’ arrival at Old Trafford back in September from Royal Antwerp was met with little fanfare, but the 23-year-old has proved to be reliable in-between the sticks.

The Belgian replaced previous number one Andre Onana, who struggled during his time at the club amid a number of mistakes leading to goals, with the 29-year-old now on loan for the season at Trabzonspor.

Lammens has not made any errors leading to goals in the Premier League this season, and has prevented 3.59 goals.

Following victory at Everton, Man United fans have claimed that going from Onana to Lammens is “the biggest upgrade in goalkeeping history,” and the latter has been exactly what they have been missing.

Michael Carrick edges closer to Man United job

Carrick is becoming the leading contender to become the next permanent manager at Man United following their latest win at Everton.

The 44-year-old has impressed in charge of the club so far, with Man United on course for Champions League qualification next season.

The Red Devils may have their sights set on beating Aston Villa to third place, with just a three-point gap between the teams.

Man United will continue to wait until the campaign finishes before announcing the permanent successor to former boss Ruben Amorim.

Thomas Tuchel was linked with the vacancy, but the former Chelsea manager has committed his future to England until 2028.

Julian Nagelsmann, Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola remain contenders for the position, although Carrick is clearly becoming the favourite to land the role.
