Bilic makes emphatic West Ham defender transfer decision
By Aramide Oladipo
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic has dismissed the idea of signing any new defenders during the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have endured a disappointing start to the Premier League campaign, suffering two consecutive defeats and currently sitting at the foot of the table.
After facing both Manchester United and Southampton away from home in their opening matches, West Ham have already conceded seven goals in the process.
Former Manchester City Pablo Zabaleta has been the only defender added to the squad this summer on a free transfer.
As quoted in the Telegraph, Bilic is convinced that there is no need to add more reinforcements to the back-four.

“We have enough centre backs in our team, if they stay fit of course,” he said.
“What is it they say about quality, not quantity?”
Although Bilic has closed the door on the arrival of a defender, the Hammers are still being linked with defensive-minded players as the Mirror recently claimed that they are set for talks with the agent of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.
West Ham faced a similar situation last season where they struggled to keep clean sheets in the Premier League, conceding a total of 64 goals.
The Hammers will be hopeful of putting their defensive issues behind them this week as they face League Two side Cheltenham Town in the League Cup on Wednesday night.
