‘Birmingham City windfall revealed as Jobe Bellingham nears Sunderland exit’
Birmingham City are set to reap the financial benefits of Jobe Bellingham’s increasingly imminent Sunderland exit.
The midfielder made 26 senior appearances for Blues before joining the Black Cats during the summer of 2023.
He has gone on to shine for Sunderland, helping them win promotion to the Premier League via the playoffs by notching four goals and three assists in 40 Championship appearances this term.
But the 19-year-old’s exploits for the North East club have not gone unnoticed, as Football Insider have exclusively revealed that Bellingham has verbally agreed terms with Borussia Dortmund.

Birmingham set for 15% sell on clause as Bellingham nears Dortmund move
Before verbally agreeing terms with Dortmund, Bellingham held talks with Eintracht Frankfurt, who also landed a top-four spot in the Bundesliga.
Writing in The Guardian [28 May], Ed Aarons revealed: “If he is allowed to leave, then his former club Birmingham would be due a sizeable sell-on fee.”
Meanwhile, when Bellingham attracted interest from Crystal Palace and Brentford in 2024, the Daily Mail reported that Chris Davies’ men boast a 15 per cent sell-on clause for Bellingham.

Birmingham City keen on Rangers duo
After winning the League One title with a whopping tally of 111 points this season, Birmingham boast ambitious plans under the ownership of Knighthead Capital Management.

The sell-on clause Blues are set to receive for Bellingham’s services will hand the West Midlands outfit a key financial boost as they look to equip themselves for a strong season in the Championship next term.
Meanwhile, as Rangers are still yet to appoint a new manager, Birmingham are keen to sign Ben Davies and Kieran Dowell permanently from the Ibrox side.
Davies spent the entirety of this season on loan in the West Midlands from the Scottish Premiership giants and established himself as a key figure in Davies’ backline.
Dowell, though, joined Birmingham on loan from Rangers in January and proved his worth in attack by notching five goals and four assists in 19 League One appearances.
Both Rangers men should be well equipped for the challenge of Championship football next term, should they join Blues permanently, as they each have previous experience in the second tier.
