Liverpool fans have lost their minds on Twitter after being shocked by the performance of Jordan Henderson against Manchester City at Anfield on Wednesday night.
Henderson, 27, put in a marvelous shift as the Reds put one foot in the Champions League semi-final with a 3-0 first-leg win over the Citizens after running riot in the first-half.
Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Sadio Mane were all on target within the first 31 minutes to take a commanding lead against Pep Guardiola’s shell-shocked men.
After the break the away side started to gain more control, but Liverpool put in a brilliant defensive performance to ensure that Man City would not find what could have been a pivotal away goal.
Henderson was one of many players to earn a lot of praise after the game, however many were stunned by how much the England international had stepped up after being arguably Liverpool’s most underwhelming player this season.
Here is a selection of their tweets:

Bit of a shock for everyone on Twitter, Jordan Henderson, Dejan Lovren and James Milner are all really good at what they do.
What a strange thing to say, right? #LFC

Fair to say Mr Henderson and Mr Milner will be needing ice baths this evening, exceptional from the pair of them, gutted Hendo is suspended but means he'll be available *should* we progress. #LFC

Not a big fan but this is Henderson’s best game in a red shirt in a long time #lfc

Henderson picked up a booking in the latter stages of the game for a cynical foul on Raheem Sterling.
The 27-year-old will miss the second-leg at the Etihad due to his yellow card which will no doubt leave Jurgen Klopp with a problem due to several injuries also plaguing his squad.
In other Liverpool news, Piers Morgan has claimed Klopp has transformed this £120,000-a-week Reds player.
