£50,000-a-week forward not ruling out Jan switch to Rangers, reported approach made

Steven Naismith has revealed that he hasn’t ruled out a return to Rangers in the January transfer window.
The Norwich striker has been linked with Kilmarnock, Hearts and the Light Blues and has intimated that he will be returning to play in Scotland sooner rather than later.
“There have been a lot of stories linking me with two of my old clubs, Kilmarnock and Rangers. I have not spoken to either of them, but I am not ruling out any clubs at this stage” Naismith said on the BBC Sport website.
“I wouldn’t say any club is off limits, because it is more than just about money.
“I am pretty relaxed about the situation. If the right move is there for me, I will know about it.”
Naismith started his career at Kilmarnock, being named Scottish young player of the year before moving to Ibrox in 2007.
The player had a trophy-laden five years in Glasgow, winning six trophies including three Scottish Premiership.
However, he controversially left Rangers after the club was liquidated in 2012 which some fans don’t seem to have forgiven him for.
The 31-year-old joined Everton and spent four years there before moving to Norwich, where he is reportedly earning £50,000-a-week according to the Scotsman.
It is understood that Hearts have approached Norwich about Naismith for a loan though as he is expected to leave Carrow Road.
Football Insider verdict
The fact that Naismith is still open to moving to Ibrox is good news for the Light Blues, if they intend to pursue the player. He is still only 31-years-old, so still has a good few years ahead of him and would add experience to a Rangers front-line which will be without Kenny Miller for the foreseeable future and whose only consistent goalscorer is Alfredo Morelos. The only stumbling block could be the fee that the Gers would need to agree with Norwich, so it remains to be seen if Naismith will make his return to Glasgow, or possibly make a return to his first club Kilmarnock.
