Borussia Dortmund look to beat Premier League clubs to ‘unbelievable’ talent Pep Guardiola loves as permanent option considered

Manchester City are ready to make a decision on the future of Oscar Bobb in January as several clubs prepare offers.

Crystal Palace are interested in a move for Bobb, as they look to bounce back from a December stutter that has seen them go five games without a win.

The Norway international is currently recovering from a hamstring injury, but has returned for the Citizens after suffering a serious leg fracture in training last season.

Bobb is yet to return to his best for Manchester City, but hopes are still high for the future of the 22-year-old, who had been so exciting when he broke through.

Manchester City are set to sign Antoine Semenyo in January, however, with the youngster’s minutes set to be restricted further.

Borussia Dortmund register interest in Oscar Bobb

Bobb joined Manchester City from Valerenga in 2019, and broke through during the 2023-24 season.

The 22-year-old had made brief appearances off the bench in the Premier League but caught eyes when he scored a stunning winner against Newcastle United.

The Norwegian burst into the box in stoppage time, and was found with a ball over the top by Kevin de Bruyne, taking it into his stride with one touch before ingeniously taking it around and past Martin Dubravka.

Last season looked set to be the one in which Bobb would become a prominent part of Pep Guardiola‘s team, but his campaign would practically be over before it even started when he broke his leg in training.

Sky Sports reported on Tuesday that Manchester City are prepared to let the winger leave on an initial loan in January, with any permanent option to be discussed.

Borussia Dortmund are the latest club to show interest in the talent, who is also being looked at by several Premier League clubs.

What Pep Guardiola has said about ‘unique’ Bobb

Bobb made his debut for Norway in 2023, even before he had scored his first goal for Manchester City.

The winger is extremely highly rated in his home country, and despite his injury troubles, expectations for his future are still high.

Speaking about the 22-year-old after his assist in the 2024 Community Shield, Guardiola said: “He has something unique.

“Stop, being quiet, done in movement, first two or three steps, right or left are unbelievable. The goal itself, the action, he has done it, he’s behind the ball and how he turns and makes the cross is a huge quality.

And after, he has incredible values, incredible work ethic, intensity in the pressing and read what he has to defend is really, really good. But still, he’s young and the ability, he can do it, but he has to do it more regularly.”

Returning to regular appearances will be the next step for Bobb, who is keen to get his development back on track.
