Bournemouth ace Dean Huijsen sends message to Enes Unal after major blow
Dean Huijsen has sent a message via social media to seriously injured Bournemouth teammate Enes Unal.
Bournemouth centre-back Huijsen has been instrumental in the Cherries’ excellent start to the season.
The Spaniard has scored twice in 14 games and had another good performance in a 1-0 win over Everton on Saturday (4 January).
Andoni Iraola’s side are currently sat seventh in the table, only three points behind Chelsea in the race for a Champions League spot.
However, Bournemouth will have to play the rest of the season without striker Enes Unal, who will miss the rest of the season after he tore his ACL.
Huijsen took to social media to offer support for his injured teammate, wishing the Turkish player a “speedy recovery.”
Defensive solidity gives Bournemouth a chance to play in Europe
The Cherries’ season has largely been defined by the centre-back pairing of Huijsen and Illia Zabarnyi.
The full-backs, Adam Smith and Milos Kerkez have been the perfect foils to the central defenders by offering an attacking threat, however, Kerkez may be on the move this January with Liverpool interested.
Only four teams (Liverpool, Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle) have conceded fewer goals than Bournemouth in the Premier League this campaign.
Having signed from Juventus in the summer, 19-year-old Huijsen has hit the ground running and became Bournemouth’s youngest ever Premier League goalscorer.
Following a good end to last season, the Cherries were expected to be somewhere around the mid to bottom half of the table, but instead are making a valiant push for European football.
Their next opponents are West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup on 11 January, with momentum on their side, the Cherries may be looking to cap off their great season with an even greater cup run.
