Richarlison is having a ‘really bad’ season at Everton after failing to find the net for the seventh successive game.
That’s according to former Leeds United hitman Noel Whelan, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Brazilian’s season.
Richarlison, 23, only has six goals in 29 Premier League appearances this season.
He has some way to go to match last season’s haul of 13 goals before the current campaign finishes.
His blank against Aston Villa means he has now gone seven games without a goal after scoring four in four games before this poor run.
Whelan has slammed Richarlison and claimed Carlo Ancelotti will be fuming with his striker’s ‘petulance’ and ‘arrogance’.
“That kind of return, for that kind of player, that’s a bad season,” Whelan told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs.
“Simple as that. The player won’t be happy with that return and the manager and club won’t be happy.
“For a player of his ability, he was tipped to go to Barcelona a couple of years ago. Brazil’s number nine? No, that’s a really bad season.
“A player of his ability should be well into double figures by now, like the rest of the superstars at different clubs.
“I don’t think anyone can be happy with that. It’s up to him to bring his talent when he plays.
“The club turned down that Barcelona bid and showed faith in him, they’ll be looking for a return on that.
“There’s a petulance and an arrogance about him but normally when you have that, you’re coming up with the goods.”
