Brendan Rodgers made one of the few blunders in his time at Celtic in the last game before the winter break, the goal less Old Firm derby against Rangers.
He made the incomprehensible decision to drop £4.5million midfield man Olivier Ntcham from the side.
The move backfired, as the midfield duo Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor allowed Rangers to dictate the game in the second-half.
The game only settled down when former Manchester City player Ntcham came on with less than 20 minutes to go and managed to wrestle control of the midfield.
Perhaps McGregor and Armstrong were playing because of their good performances against Rangers yet season, but Rodgers erred badly in not picking the French under-21 international, who he signed from Man City in the summer.
The best Celtic midfield duo is Ntcham and Scott Brown.
Brown can control things from in the Hoops’ own half and in the middle of the park, whilst Ntcham can take the ball from Brown and burst forward with the ball.
The Frenchman already has six goals this season, which is a good return for a player who is at times a holding midfielder.
The pair working together makes obvious sense, and hopefully Brendan Rodgers has realised that by now and will start Ntcham not only against Brechin in the Scottish Cup on Saturday but every week from now on.
