Brendan Rodgers now major favourite for Premier League return at London club
Brendan Rodgers continues to wait for his next managerial opportunity after his dramatic resignation from Celtic back in October.
Having left the Hoops after a poor start to the 2025-26 campaign, sources told Football Insider that Rodgers is in line to return to the Premier League in the coming weeks.
Rodgers is on Leeds’ shortlist of replacements for Daniel Farke, should the boss be unable to maintain their recent minor resurgence in form and be sacked.
Conversely, Rodgers has also been linked with the Burnley job, given Scott Parker’s struggles upon their return to the Premier League.
Brendan Rodgers races into lead for Fulham job
The former Liverpool manager’s Premier League experience is a highly valuable attribute that has evidently placed him at the top of clubs’ wish-lists for a new boss.
One major bookmaker has dropped the latest odds on the Northern Irishman becoming the next Fulham manager at 11/10 as Marco Silva‘s future remains uncertain.
The Portuguese’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and, with results continuing to be poor for the Cottagers, it is likely both parties will part ways.
Also in the running to take over at Craven Cottage, Ange Postecoglou comes in at 5/2 as well as Scott Parker at 7/2, with the latter being linked with a return to Fulham.
Additionally, there is an outside shout for Roberto De Zerbi to make a comeback to the Premier League with the Cottagers at 4/1.
Fulham may look to get ahead of competition for Rodgers by acting sooner rather than later
Although Silva is currently expected to leave at the end of the 2025-26 season, if results continue to worsen, he may be forced out of Craven Cottage sooner than first thought.
The 48-year-old’s side sit 15th in the Premier League table after 15 games and have only won five matches, calling into question whether he has taken the club as far as he can after five campaigns in west London.
Fulham do, however, have a favourable run of fixtures on the horizon, with consecutive games against strugglers: Burnley (13 December), Nottingham Forest (22 December) and West Ham (27 December). In that run, they also have a Carabao Cup quarter-final at Newcastle on 17 December.
This could possibly see the Cottagers make an early move for Rodgers, who is readily available to steer the team to safety before embarking on a full pre-season next summer.
