Rodgers reveals Celtic transfer plans after £19m windfall, fans will be delighted

Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Celtic are prepared to smash their January transfer record in the summer to boost their Champions League success.
Celtic posted a huge profit of £19million during the first half of the season on the back of the Bhoys’ Champions League campaign, and Rodgers will look to use that in the summer.
Speaking to the Daily Record, the former Liverpool boss revealed he is willing to make any signing that will improve his current squad.
“We will always push to make a signing if it is right for the club and right for the team,” Rodgers said. “I have never been given a ceiling. I’ll always look to bring the best possible players here.
“But we need players who want to take Celtic forward. Whether they are a million quid, £6m, £7m or whatever, the club know I will bring that to them.”
Rodgers could be willing to break Celtic’s current transfer record that saw the Hoops pay Coventry £6million for John Hartson in 2001, a year after paying the same amount for Chelsea’s Chris Sutton.
The Northern Irishman has delighted the Parkhead faithful this season by dominating the Scottish Premiership, as they now sit 27 points clear at the top.
Rodgers has masterminded Celtic’s incredible run of form that has seen them go 27 domestic matches unbeaten, beating the all-conquering Lisbon Lions record from 1967 of 26 games.
As well as a promising campaign in the Champions League against the likes of Barcelona, Manchester City and Borussia Monchengladbach, Rodgers is now looking to kick on.
Two draws against City as well as picking up one point in Germany against Gladbach will have given Rodgers hope, but recruitment is needed if they are to go one better during 2017/18.
Now, the 44-year-old will be backed in the summer, as Celtic looks to use their Champions League windfall to bring in some new talent.
In other Celtic transfer news, this 28-year-old is still waiting for a loan move to be confirmed.
