Brighton star Carlos Baleba sends ‘let’s go’ message as new transfer confirmed

Brighton star Carlos Baleba took to social media with a passionate message following the confirmation of a new summer transfer.

The 21-year-old midfielder has become a key figure over the last two seasons, already making 77 appearances for the club, notching four goals and two assists last term.

Mick Brown told Football Insider in April that Liverpool were considering a deal for Baleba, though it is understood that the Seagulls’ £100million price tag was a major hurdle in any transfer.

Fabian Hurzeler has already lost Joao Pedro on a £60m move to Chelsea [Sky Sports], so the 32-year-old manager will be thrilled with the lack of activity and rumours floating around his talented midfielder.

Supporters will be hoping for an improvement on the last campaign, having narrowly missed out on European qualification, finishing just four points behind Nottingham Forest.

Carlos Baleba congratulates Aaron Bibout

Taking to Instagram stories (24 July), Baleba shared Aaron Bibout’s move to Belgian side Genk from LA Galaxy, captioned: “Let’s go, brother,” with multiple excited emojis, as his national counterpart agrees a new deal.

The 20-year-old striker has yet to make his international debut for Cameroon, though Baleba has clearly taken the player under his wing, having become a key player at Brighton and at international level.

Fabian Hurzeler to improve at Brighton next season

Football Insider verdict

Hurzeler is worried about potential further Brighton exits, Mick Brown told Football Insider, with Pedro and Pervis Estupinan already finding new clubs ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Newcastle United fans would love to sign Jan Paul van Hecke, with Matthew O’Riley, Kaoru Mitoma, and Julio Encisco being previously linked with exits, and fans will be concerned over the coming weeks.

Of course, money from outgoings has been reinvested well, with the likes of Maxin De Cuyper, Diego Coppola, Tom Watson, and Charalampos Kostoulas all being signed recently.

Many of these players have European experience under their belts, and if the Seagulls do improve on their 2024/25 league campaign, that ambition may become reality at the Amex Stadium.

Hurzeler is still learning on the job, having only managed at St Pauli before coming to the Premier League, but while it was a very brave decision from the board, it appears to be paying off.

Supporters would ideally like a new figure to replace the outgoing Pedro, who notched 30 goals and 10 assists in 70 appearances for the Seagulls, but there has been very little movement in that department.
