Chris Sutton has taken to social media to pay tribute to Celtic’s James Forrest after a brilliant performance for Celtic.

The Hoops winger was the man of the match in Celtic’s 2-0 Betfred Cup Final victory over Motherwell at Hampden Park today.

He opened the scoring in the game with a low drive into the bottom corner of the net in the 49th minute of the game.

Today marked the third Betfred Cup Final that Forrest has scored in, with Celtic going on to win all three games.

Former Celtic striker Sutton was thrilled with his performance, writing on his official Twitter account that Forrest was “brilliant”.

Forrest is having his best season in the Hoops, having scored nine goals already this season, which matches his total for the entirety of last season.

He has coped well with Patrick Roberts returning to the club from Manchester City on loan, and is currently keeping him out of the Celtic side.

Today’s cup win means that Celtic have won four domestic trophies out of four since Brendan Rodgers took over at Celtic Park in the summer of 2016.

The football doesn’t stop though, as Celtic are in action again on Wednesday night with a trip to today’s opponents Motherwell. The teams then play each other again at Celtic Park on Saturday.
