'Brilliant' Cresswell tipped for full Leeds Premier League debut v West Ham after another injury blow
Noel Whelan claims Charlie Cresswell could be drafted into the Leeds starting 11 to face West Ham.
The former Whites hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted after another potential injury blow at the club.
After the game against Newcastle, Marcelo Bielsa is quoted by Leeds Live as saying Raphinha has a “problem with his hip” while Luke Ayling also limped off at St James’ Park.
Leeds were already missing Diego Llorente through injury while Pascal Struijk remains suspended as he serves the second of a three-game ban.
Whelan claims 19-year-old Cresswell is a “brilliant” young talent and backed him to perform if he is given the nod against the Hammers.
“We are already struggling with centre-halves,” Whelan told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“If Luke Ayling’s injury is bad we have plenty of young players. Cresswell could come in, he is a brilliant young player.
“We have loads of youth players who can do a job. We have a tough game against West Ham and we need as much experience out there as possible.”
Cresswell has made just one appearance for Leeds, in the EFL Cup against Hull City 12 months ago.
In August this year he received his first call up to the England Under 21 squad.
