Darren Bent was blown away by Leeds United attacker Jack Harrison following the Whites’ 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the former England international and ex-Premier League striker claimed that Harrison had come on leaps and bounds after only showing flashes of his talents last season.
Harrison racked up his third league goal of the season against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday after Patrick Bamford played him through on goal.
Bent explained that before the start of the season he heard people talking about Jack Clarke being the main man rather than Harrison, so he believes the 22-year-old winger has already exceeded expectations with Clarke not getting a look in.
“He’s done really really well this season,” Bent told Football Insider.
“Another one who has come on leaps and bounds, he showed flashes last year but he has come on this season and Leeds are in a good place this season, they’re near the top at the moment.
“But Jack Harrison has performed really well, he has exceeded expectations, not many people spoke about him being the main man at the start of the season, a lot of people spoke about Jack Clarke being the main man, but it’s not happened for him at all.
“But it’s brilliant for Harrison and hopefully he can maintain it and Leeds can get promoted.”
Harrison is on a season-long loan at Leeds from Manchester City and has racked up three goals as well as four assists for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this season.
The 22-year-old winger spent his 2018/19 on loan at Elland Road as well, but there is still plenty of time left on his Manchester City contract with it not expiring until 2022.
