‘Bring him home’ – Rangers fans are all in agreement over Russell Martin replacement

Rangers supporters have shared who they believe should be the manager to replace Russell Martin at Ibrox.

After appointing Martin in the summer, Andrew Cavenagh is now looking to appoint his second manager in a matter of months of owning the club.

Martin only lasted 123 days in charge of Rangers, with a draw at Falkirk deemed the final straw with the club rooted in the bottom half of the Scottish Premiership table.

Rangers are also already out of the Champions League, and have lost both their Europa League matches so far, with a new manager facing an uphill battle to turn around performances and results.

Rangers fans want Steven Gerrard return

Steven Gerrard is in the running to become Rangers manager for a second spell, alongside Kevin Muscat, Sean Dyche and Danny Rohl.

Gerrard won the Scottish Premiership title in his time at Rangers, denying Celtic a historic 10 titles in a row under Neil Lennon.

Fans are united that Gerrard should return as the club’s next boss.

One fan posted the list of candidates he wants the club to pursue: “Rangers get own the phone to, Mancini, Muscat or even Gerrard and get one of them down to Ibrox ASAP.”

Another supporter would instantly take Gerrard: “Would I take Gerrard back…Yes in a heartbeat and Gerrard was reportedly offered our job before RM [Russell Martin] but had to turn it down to family reasons.”

For me I think Gerrard is a no brainer knows the club expectations and has that aura that would immediately command the players respect,” a Rangers fan stated.

Announce Gerrard,” was a simple and direct comment from a fan.

Another Gers supporter also gave his list of candidates to the board: “Here’s my list of candidates. Gerrard, Muscat, Dyche & McInnes Nobody else is required to be on the list.

Whilst one fan posted three names he would like in Gerrard’s back room team: “The next Rangers manager should be…… Steven Gerrard with Defoe, Thomson, Davis, on his coaching team.”

Gerrard could reignite rivalry with former boss

If appointed, Gerrard was return to face former boss at Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers, who he also faced on touchline in his first stint at Ibrox.

The pair have met four times, with Rodgers winning just once against Gerrard.

Rodgers has had unprecedent success at Celtic, and it is the job of the next Rangers manager to bridge the current divide between Glasgow’s big two.

Nine points behind the Hoops, it already looks a huge challenge for the Gers to make the top two, with Hearts flying at the top of the table.
