Scott Brown makes prediction ahead of clash against Celtic

By Emma Sanders

Scott Brown is relishing the opportunity of returning to Ibrox during Celtic’s clash against Rangers on New Year’s Eve and is confident of picking up all three points if his side play to their potential.

The two teams go head-to-head in the latest Old Firm derby and Brown hopes his side can maintain their unbeaten run in the domestic campaign.

Celtic currently top the Scottish Premiership table by 16 points but Brown claims his side must turn up on the day, though he predicted they will secure a victory.

“It’s been enjoyable when they’ve not been here but you always want to go to Ibrox and beat second place in the league,” said Brown, as reported by the Daily Mail.

“We know we are a good team and if we go there and turn up, we can create chances and score goals. It’s about how we play on the day.”

The Hoops have a game in hand going into the crucial end-of-year clash and they could extend their lead at the top of the table by 19 points with victory in the Old Firm derby.

Rangers have been inconsistent this season and despite a recent surge in form, Mark Warburton’s side suffered a disappointing 1-1 draw against St Johnstone on Wednesday.

The two teams have already faced each other twice this season and Celtic ran out as comfortable winners on both occasions, netting five past Rangers in September before knocking them out of the semi-final of the Betfred Cup.

Brown has been a crucial member of the Brendan Rodgers’ squad this season and he is expected to start in midfield for the clash at the Ibrox.

In other Celtic news, the club should hand a new deal for this defender.
