Bruno Fernandes: Portuguese media have their say on Man United star’s performance vs USA
Bruno Fernandes continued his wonderful season for Manchester United and Portugal by starring against the United States on Tuesday.
The Nations League champions won 2-0, with Fernandes claiming the assist for both Trincao and Joao Felix’s goals.
The Man United captain cannot seem to stop assisting at the moment, with nine in the Premier League alone since his return from injury in January.
Fernandes is on course to break the Premier League record for the most assists in a single season, which stands at 20 and was set by Thierry Henry in 2003.
His Man United form would suggest that he will have no issue breaking it, with just five assists in seven games required.

Former chief scout Mick Brown exclusively told Football Insider in March that Man United will do everything they can to keep Fernandes amid rumours of a potential exit.
The 31-year-old expressed his concerns with the club’s decision-makers earlier in the season, after it emerged that they had attempted to sell him.

Since the arrival of Michael Carrick, who replaced Ruben Amorim on an interim basis in January, however, the situation at Old Trafford has flipped on its head.
Man United are now set to qualify for the Champions League, with the Englishman leading the race to get the job permanently.
Fernandes could even now extend his stay at Old Trafford, and his confidence was on full show on Tuesday.
The midfielder’s first assist was an ingenious backheel to Trincao, who did the rest with a great finish into the bottom corner.
The second saw him expertly clip a corner to the edge of the box, with Felix left in acres of space to find the back of the net.
Portuguese outlet Record described Fernandes as a “maestro in football and soccer” in their post-match words, while Portugoal wrote: “Portugal dodged plenty of self-inflicted bullets early on but their class eventually shone through.
“Vitinha and Bruno Fernandes were on another level and João Félix punished the hosts with the second goal.”
Fernandes to lead Portugal at World Cup
Portugal have been without captain Cristiano Ronaldo during this international camp, with Fernandes taking the armband in his absence.
There is no chance the 41-year-old misses the World Cup, but there is a feeling that his influence is starting to drift.
Fernandes is expected to play a huge role in any success Portugal have this summer, in a tournament that could well mark the passing of the guard.
The Man United star is entering yet another level in his career, in which his trajectory seems to constantly point upwards.
