Bruno Fernandes still has years to give at Man United amid incredible reveal, club would be foolish to cash in
Bruno Fernandes has been one of the only shining lights throughout a rollercoaster of a 2025-26 campaign at Man United.
Even while being thrown into a more defensive role under Ruben Amorim, he continued to register incredible numbers in the Premier League, and Michael Carrick has now unlocked Fernandes again.
In fact, Carrick is edging closer to keeping the Man United job permanently. Since his arrival, the 31-year-old has one goal and four assists, leading the way to four wins and a draw.
The stats don’t lie. Fernandes is still one of the most creative players in the Premier League, but many of his performances have gone under the radar because the Red Devils have been so up-and-down.
Bruno Fernandes only continues to get better at Man United
Level on goal contributions with Igor Thiago on 18, only Erling Haaland has more than the United captain, who is all the way in front with a combined 28 goals and assists in the Premier League this term.
Haaland is back to his best at Man City this season, so it is unlikely that the attacking midfielder catches up before May, but it has still been a sensational campaign from him.
Of course, Saudi Arabian clubs are incredibly interested in Fernandes, with rumours from the summer not dispersing at all, and if anything, only getting louder ahead of the next transfer window.
But delving into statistics from this season so far, the Red Devils cannot afford to let him go. According to Squawka, the 31-year-old has created the most open-play chances in the league (54).
Premier League clubs fear Fernandes’ stay at Old Trafford
To put that into context, Liverpool‘s £115million signing Florian Wirtz has created 41, with Enzo Fernandez at 40 and Jeremy Doku at 39, showing that Fernandes is only ageing like a fine wine.
He is also in the top 15 players for Expected Goals (xG) in the Premier League, with the majority of those above him strikers by position, and likely to be the difference between European qualification and not.
Home supporters’ biggest fear will be losing the veteran magician once the summer transfer window rolls around, especially once the World Cup is over and done with, which is why the club must fight to keep him.
The Red Devils will struggle to find anyone half as creatively important as Fernandes, and even if he were to move for big money in a few months, there are very few on the market who can provide similar numbers.
